Luis Schmidt is a lawyer with a degree from UNAM. He holds various postgraduate degrees, including a Master’s in Intellectual Property Law from Franklin Pierce Law Center, University of New Hampshire. He has also earned diplomas from Universidad Panamericana in Business Law and Amparo Law; a diploma in Marketing and Law from Georgetown University; and one in International Copyright Law from the University of Amsterdam.

He has been a partner at Olivares since 1993, focusing on intellectual property law, particularly copyright, entertainment, and culture. His clients include major cultural companies such as Netflix, Amazon Music, Amazon Prime, WB/HBO, Vix, Claro Video, MGM, and Universal Music, as well as renowned filmmakers like Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Luis combines his legal practice with literature, specializing in legal essays and short stories. He has published poetry, including the books Trazos Ciegos, Un Dios Pixel, and the forthcoming De Los Escombros, with Editorial Itaca. Before practicing law, he was a composer and music performer, as well as a producer of various recordings.
